Indian Red Cross Society, Punjab State Branch Celebrated World Red Cross Day
World Red Cross Day is celebrated to mark the birth anniversary of Sir Jean Henry Dunant the Founder of Red Cross Movement who was born on 8th May 1828 in Switzerland.
Punjab State Red Cross Branch Chandigarh celebrated the World Red Cross Day- 2024 at Red Cross Bhawan, Sec-16A Chandigarh with the theme “KeepingHumanityLive”. The programme was presided over by Shri Banwarilal Purohit, Hon’ble Governor, Punjab & President of the Punjab State Red Cross. The programme was started with felicitation of chief guest, and National Anthem followed by a ceremony where the Hon’ble Governor, administered the pledge to 200 students from different Schools, Colleges and Universities. Later, the Hon’ble Governor inaugurated the Voluntary Blood Donation Camp and encouraged the donors by spending time with them and motivated them to donate blood regularly. After this, the Hon’ble Governor handed out certificates and gifts to the blood donors. Later, the Hon’ble Governor released the Red Cross Flag to honour the birth anniversary of Sir Jean Henry Dunant, the founder of the Red Cross, and to reaffirm a commitment to the values of compassion, impartiality, and service to humanity.

World Red Cross Day 2023

The Punjab State Branch of the Indian Red Cross Society celebrated World Red Cross Day at Punjab Raj Bhawan. This State level function was presided over by Shri Banwarilal Purohit, Hon’ble Governor, Punjab & President of the Punjab State Red Cross. Following the theme of this year is World Red Cross Day ”Everything we do comes #fromtheheart” On this occasion, 10 battery operated  tricycles to the handicapped persons, 10 sewing machines to the deserving women and 10 nutrition kits to the TB patients were distributed by the Hon’ble Governor, Punjab. Also, Hon’ble Governor, Punjab flagged off the Hearse Van vehicle. In addition to this, on the eve of World Red Cross Day, a voluntary blood donation camp was organised by Punjab State Red Cross Branch in collaboration with Chandigarh University, Mohali and 180 students, Red Cross volunteers donated blood.
