On Tuesday, 15th October 2024, the Indian Red Cross Society, Punjab State Branch, Chandigarh , in collaboration with Cruasia Hospital, The Lions Club, Safe Hand Rehabilitation Society (SHRS), and NSS volunteers from Government College for Girls, Sector-11, Chandigarh, celebrated International Day for Disaster Reduction and Global Handwashing Day at the college premises.
The event aimed to promote disaster preparedness, resilience, and hand hygiene practices through interactive sessions, demonstrations, and awareness drives.
Key activities included:
•Medical health check camp
•First aid training and CPR by Punjab Red Cross experts
•Handwashing demonstrations
•Tree plantation drive
•Distribution of hand sanitizers and feminine hygiene products
Students showcased their creativity through a poster competition on disaster management and hygiene themes. Interactive games, such as Disaster Response Quiz,Hygiene Charades,and Emergency Response Simulation kept the participants engaged.
Certificates of participation were awarded, recognizing student’s involvement. The event concluded on a high note, with everyone enjoying the informative and fun session.
